THE GETTYSBURG MUSEUM OF HISTORY

Founded by its Curator Erik L. Dorr, the Gettysburg Museum of History is a unique destination for all history buffs around the world. Offering access to the museum´s exhibtions to all visitors for free, a true highlight for Band of Brothers® fans is the Major Dick Winters Collection with numerous of Winters´ personal belongings. A major focus of the museum is of course on the American Civil War, but also on World War I, World War II and the Vietnam War. In addition, the Gettysburg Museum of History displays many one of a kind artifacts, such as original photographs of Bonnie & Clyde previously owned by Blanche Barrow, wife of Clyde Barrow's older brother, personal belongings of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis Presley, President John F. Kennedy and more. The museum is not funded by government-grants and therefore registered as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Its mission is to preserve history by rescuing and exhibiting America´s most precious artifacts with military and political history, honor veterans and tell their stories, as well as making history accessible for everyone.

We are more than proud to be sponsored by the Gettysburg Museum of History. You can support the museum´s missions with single or regular donations here. For more info or to get in touch with the Gettysburg Museum of History please use the following social media links:

CURATOR ERIK L. DORR

Erik is the 4th generation of his family to reside at the home on 219 Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg, PA.  He grew up hearing stories of the great Battle of Gettysburg from his grandfather and former Mayor of Gettysburg, Fred G. Pfeffer.  A number of the American Civil War battlefield relics in the Gettysburg Museum of History were found on the family’s Ziegler’s Grove farm after Pickett’s Charge. Erik opened up his former family home to the public and transformed it to the Gettyburg Museum of History.

At an early age, Erik L. Dorr began collecting historical relics from throughout history. At the age of nine years old, he obtained his first collection of World War II relics from his elementary school janitor, a World War II veteran.  He has spent his entire life buying and selling some of the world’s most enthralling historical artifacts. Although rooted in his passion for the American Civil War, Erik L. Dorr has collected relics that span American history from George Washington to the present day. He is a “historian’s historian.” He loves history for its pureness, honesty and great enjoyment and is the Co-Host of the American Artifact series on You Tube's "The History Underground".

Erik also became widely known as the author of the best-selling books "Hang Tough - The WWII Letters and Artifacts of Major Dick Winters", as well as "Fierce Valor - The True Story of Ronald Speirs and his Band of Brothers". Both books have been co-authored with Historian Jared Frederick and can be purchased using the buttons above.
